There are times when I feel like I am running on empty, especially when it comes to coming up with ideas for Isabelle’s home education. As she learns best through play and short activities that she can get involved with, I’m always trying to come up with new ideas to keep her engaged.
This week my saviour has been plastic pockets! This may sound like an odd thing to help with learning, but not only do they save on paper, they can be used to create lots of fun learning ideas. I used white board pens to write on the plastic pocket but normal felt tips will also work. The child can then wipe off their drawings and start again!
I have managed to come up with quite a few new activities to help develop fine motor skills, maths, working memory and mark making just using a plastic pocket, a piece of paper and pens. The plastic can be more easier for children to mark make on as it is smoother than paper.
I have put these ideas on the printable activities page so you can have a look and see if there are any you could use with your own little or big ones! They are easy to adapt so you can make them more or less challenging and there are so many different ideas you can come up with.

Importantly they are quick to make as I always appreciate the time that goes
into making your own resources, hence why I like to share what I find ad come up with myself.
If you follow me on Tik Tok, you may find I flood it with plastic pocket ideas for a while, so I do apologise! 😊
I think some good advice I can give is try and not overthink activities. Sometimes the simple ones that use the least resources are the best. Please get in touch if you would like some specific activity ideas for specific skill development.
