I try to theme some of our learning and activities to link in with the time of year/ events happening so they are relateable for Isabelle. Here are some fun things we have got up to over September and October...

These simple silhouette jar lights are just washed-out jars covered in a layer of PVA glue and tissue paper of your choice. We put another layer of PVA over the tissue paper just to seal it all in.

Isabelle then chose a silhouette we stuck on the jar, but she also used black paint as well.

A battery tea light inside the jar brings it to life!

This was a favourite activity we have done a few times- a potion making station! I used a selection of craft bits and bobs as well as herbs and petals from the garden.

I then thought of some fun names to name each ingredient and made up some potion recipes. These are great for fine motor skills such as pouring and controlling hand movements as well as reading and following instruction. Isabelle also made up her own potion and named it! Perfect for Halloween.

Collecting leaves in the park is an activity itself, so carry it on bu painting the leaves and printing or use the leaves themselves!

Maple seed dragonflies

These dragon flies were made after collecting maple tree seeds (helicopters!) and then Isabelle drizzled over PVZ glue and then sprinkled glitter on top. We also made painted ones.

You can also print with the seeds.

I loved making this potion game. I just searched online for images associated with Halloween, printed and cut them out. Each player gets a cauldron and a potion recipe. There is a pile of cards with each potion ingredient on and each player takes turns to turn them over. If you pick up your ingredient, you put it in your cauldron!

Draw any picture that is made up of a few parts like eyes, ears etc.

Decide what number on the dice links to which body part.

Take turns rolling the dice drawing over the pencil body part in pen. first person to draw over all their picture wins!

You can also do this with one dice for lower numbers. This version with two dice is to encourage addition.
